Every 3rd Wednesday of the month a meeting is held in the KIvI building, Prinsessegracht 23 in The Hague. From 17:00 to 18:00 hrs drinks are served during the "borrel" or social hour. It is an excellent way to meet other members prior to the lecture, which starts at 18:00 hours. The lecture series covers a wide range of scientific, industrial, economical and social topics. In total there are 10 PGK meetings per year. In the months of July and August PGK there is a summer recess. Every year at least a one-day excursion and a weekend fieldtrip are organised. Over the years the fieldtrip has shown to combine an excellent geological programme during the day with an even better gastronomical programme during the evening. Past destinations have been amongst others; Yorkshire in Great Britain (1998), the Harz Mountains in eastern Germany (1999) and the Berwick Coast in SE Scotland (2000). The single-day excursion is an ideal occasion to meet other members or to introduce new members to our society. Among other destinations we have been to the tidal flats of "Het Verdronken Land van Saeftinghe" (1999) and to the city of The Hague to see how geological history has controlled the urbanization process in PGK's hometown.
