Monthly Lecture

Panos Doulgeris (Delft Inversion) will talk about:

‘Seismic inversion as a tool for de-risking exploration, development, production and storage in the subsurface’

Abstract
Delft Inversion is a technology vendor specializing in seismic reservoir characterization. Their distinctive seismic inversion technology offers unprecedented insights that were once deemed unattainable. In an upcoming talk, Dries will highlight the distinctive properties of this technology and elucidate how it enhances the value of subsurface exploration, development, production, or storage. Through case studies, he will demonstrate the resolution of geophysical challenges previously considered insurmountable with traditional acoustic methods. Moreover, Dries will expound on the versatility of the technology, showcasing its applicability to both hydrocarbon and renewable projects.

About the presenter
Dries Gisolf graduated from the Technical University Delft in 1971. In 1975 he obtained a PhD in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Utrecht. In 1976 he joined Shell International Research in Rijswijk, The Netherlands. Between 1980 and 2000 he held various positions for Shell in Oman, The Netherlands, Australia, Malaysia and Nigeria. In September 2000 he was appointed Professor of Acoustical Imaging and Sound Control at the Faculty of Applied Sciences of Delft University. After his retirement from Delft University in 2010 he developed a wave-equation-based Amplitude Vs. Offset inversion algorithm, as part of the Delphi Consortium. In 2013 he co-founded Delft Inversion, a company providing services and software in the field of AVO inversion. To date he is still developing tools to improve the products and services Delft Inversion is offering.
