As the world around us is changing with the Energy Transition, our knowledge and skills have become increasingly relevant to applications outside of the traditional hydrocarbon E&P industry. The PGK has been changing with the times, diversifying the topics of its activities to include, for example, geothermal energy, CCUS, and subsurface storage. We would like the name of our circle to better reflect that it represents more than petroleum geoscience alone and welcomes reservoir G&G in the widest possible sense. After all, it is the first thing that potential new members, sponsors, and others see of our professional network.
Our recent call for a name change resulted in no less than 47 proposals to rename our society. From these, we (i.e., board members and the YP section board) have selected a shortlist of three suitable candidate names on which you can now vote:
When making your choice, please keep the following guiding principles in mind:
• We want a name that accurately reflects what we represent
• Our name should be appealing to both existing and prospective members and sponsors
• A negative impact on societies around us (such as the other KNGMG Kringen) should be avoided
You have until Sunday 31 January to cast a vote on your preferred name. Once the results are in, we will make a final decision and present it at our Annual General Meeting.
